The fastest moves we do have one thing in common: when the truck arrives, everything that isn't furniture is already in a sealed, labeled box. The slowest ones are the ones where packing is still happening in the kitchen while the sofa goes out the door. A week of small steps fixes that.
Seven days out, pack everything you won't touch before the move: books, off-season clothes, décor, the garage. Label every box with the room it's going to, not the room it came from, and write it on two sides so it's readable in a stack. Four days out, empty and defrost the freezer, and drain the washer hoses if the washer is coming with you.
Two days out, take apart anything you're comfortable taking apart and tape the hardware to the piece in a labeled bag. If you'd rather we handle disassembly, that's fine, just tell us when you book so it's in the quote and the schedule. Set aside a 'last box' with the kettle, chargers, toilet paper, a shower curtain, and bedding, and keep it in your car, not on the truck.
The night before, clear a path from every room to the door and confirm parking at both addresses. In Seattle apartments, that often means reserving the elevator and the loading zone, which is something we help coordinate. On the day, your only jobs are to point, answer questions, and do a final walkthrough with us. Everything else is ours.
