Most of what people want hauled away is simple: furniture, mattresses and box springs, washers, dryers, fridges, TVs, exercise equipment, boxes of odds and ends, broken shelving, and the contents of a garage that's been 'getting sorted' for three years. We load it, haul it, and sort it between donation, recycling, and disposal.
A few things we can't take on a standard junk run because the transfer stations around King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties won't accept them from a hauler: paint and solvents, motor oil and fuel, propane tanks, pesticides, and asbestos-containing material. Most of those have free household hazardous waste drop-off programs through the county. We can point you to the nearest one.
Appliances with refrigerant, such as fridges, freezers, and some A/C units, are fine, they just route to a facility that recovers the refrigerant properly. Mattresses go to a recycler where one's available. Electronics go to an e-waste collector. Furniture in good shape goes to a donation center first, which also keeps your bill down because it doesn't count against the dump load.
To get an accurate quote, send a couple of photos of the pile and tell us where it is: ground-floor garage, third-floor walk-up, or back of a storage unit. Access changes the labor more than volume does. If you're moving with us anyway, the junk run can usually be the same day, which is the cheapest way to do it.
